January 2021 start up: a COVID update

Hi folks!

Well Omicron probably put a damper on your holiday plans, but as far as we know it hasn't affected synchro training.

BC Artistic Swimming hasn't yet released any guidelines, but our COVID-19 Risk manager (Rhonda) has reviewed the latest COVID information: The BC health orders that were announced December 30th did not prohibit adult swimming activities though there was mention of a 50% capacity restriction. We have contacted our pools (Britannia for Wednesdays and Templeton for Sundays) but haven't heard anything new yet (as of Monday afternoon). We may have additional information to share later this week (i.e. Tuesday/Wednesday when people are getting back to work after the holidays).

Before the break, the pools did mention that the lifeguards will be checking for vaccine passports/ID at every practice. We have been operating under the 'we checked vaccine passports once and then made record of it', but apparently the pool will be checking every time. Be prepared and have it handy, even if you're entering via the side door of a pool.

Stay tuned to your emails as we may be sending more updates soon!
