2019/2020 Season Info

Hello Everyone,

It was great to see so many of you at practice last night! For those who weren't able to attend the meeting yesterday, here is the important info for the competitive season that will start at the end of the month.

Practices - Due to increase in rental costs, we will only be offering two practices/week. If you are on a competitive team, you will train both practices. The practices are WEDNESDAYS at BRITANNIA (8:30-9:30 pm land drill in the mat room; 9:45-11 pm pool) and SUNDAYS at TEMPLETON (6:45-7 pm warm up on deck; 7-9 pm pool). Please note that Sunday times may alter slightly depending on the number of teams we have. We'll send out that information as soon as possible. We hope to have Wednesday practices start on September 25 and Sunday practices to start September 29. We're waiting for confirmation from the pools, but we'll confirm with everyone beforehand.

Our Fall UBC practice will take place on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22 (6:30-7:15 pm land drill in the bleachers; 7:30-9 pm pool). Depending on costs, we may cancel practice on November 20.

Competitions - Due to the potential difficulty of attending a meet in Kamloops in the winter, the coaches recommend that we pre-swim at University Nationals instead. The coaches will discuss with each team to make the final decision. One thing to note is that pre-swimming at a local meet will be considerably cheaper than competing at an out-of-town meet. Here are the dates of the confirmed meets.

  • UNIVERSITY NATIONALS – UBC

  • February 14 – 16, 2020

  • MASTERS QUALIFIER – Kamloops

  • February 21-23, 2020

  • MASTERS PROVINCIALS – CCAC

  • April 24 – 26

Fundraisers - We have two trivia fundraisers booked on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16 and SATURDAY, MARCH 14. Both are at the Granville Room; doors open at 6, trivia starts at 7 pm. These nights have been very lucrative for us in the past, so please start booking friends, family, colleagues, strangers off the street.

Teams - Our coaches are hard at work creating teams. If you haven't contacted either your coach or myself to let us know your plans for this season, please do so. We have a big organizational puzzle to sort out, and having accurate information will really help us out.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you, everyone!
