On Wednesday, I attended a conference call with Jennifer Keith, Synchro BC's new technical director. I thought I would pass along some tidbits from that call.
She has 18 years sport experience - primarily from a soccer background. She is on a contract with Synchro BC until May 2018. She has experience working in multi-sport environments on projects about body image (Body Sense), anti-doping (Succeed Clean), sport as a public asset (True Sport Report).
She specifically called out Masters as being 'very impressive' at the Mable Moran Provincials meet!
On the call, Synchro BC also reviewed their recent restructuring - it came from reviewing their duties of their staff members and the various streams of Synchro BC. The postings closed Monday so we should hopefully have some hirings soon.
There will be an advisory group for Masters and Athletes with Disabilities - this will help facilitate the Sport Development director to better suit needs.
Lastly, there is the annual Synchro BC summit planned for October 2017 in the Lower Mainland. No dates as of yet as they are still firming up locations. If you have any input on what kinds of sessions you would like to see at this, please let me know or let Synchro BC know directly.
