AGM & Year-end Meeting Summary

Thanks to everyone who came out in person or attended our AGM and year-end meeting virtually.

These are not official minutes but here is a summary of the important information that was covered in the AGM and the meeting that followed:

AGM Summary

Name Change

The name change was approved. Once we officially file with the Provincial Registry we will be officially known as Vancouver Masters Artistic Swimming Club or VMAS for short (that's "V-MAS" if you are saying it out loud).

New Executive

Congratulations to our executive members Stefanie, Rhonda, Angie, Lize, Jennifer S and Emma who have been re-elected for another year!
We are looking for a fundraising chair for the upcoming year. Please contact Stef at vmspresident@gmail.com if you are interested.

Financial Statements

Will be sent out once Angie returns from her world travels and will be approved by email at a later date
They will be sent out by email and you will have a few days to ask questions and respond before a vote is called to approve them
signing officers stay the same: Angie, Stef & Rhonda (any 2 required to sign)

Club Meeting Summary

Year-end fun day practice/training session

We have pool time booked at UBC on Sunday, May 5 from 8:15 - 10:15 am that can't be cancelled so we are using it as a fun training session and bring a friend day

the session is free and we encourage everyone to bring a friend who may be interested in trying out artistic swimming or joining the club in the future
Anyone who is not registered with BCAS already will have to fill out a try-it registration form

Club Logo and merch for next season:

We will be working on a new logo. Anyone with graphics experience is invited to submit some designs and we will vote over the summer by email.
We are looking for something that is more easily reproduced on different backgrounds like a shield or a logo with a border. Send your design suggestions to myself or Stefanie by May 31.
Once the logo is finalized we will change the branding on our website and order new club merch for the fall

2024 - 2025 Competitive season

October 24-27, 2024: US Masters Nationals - Clearwater, Florida

US Masters Nationals is a fun Masters only meet. If we wanted to send a team we would have to act fast. Contact Stef if you are interested

Jan 2025: BC Masters Provincial Qualifiers - TBA

April 2025: BC Masters Provincial Championships (Mable Moran) - TBA

May 2025: Canadian Masters Nationals - TBA (likely West)

Summer 2025: World Aquatics Masters World Championships - Singapore

VMS has sent teams to Worlds many times - some of our current members including myself, Julie Gaetan and Margaret have gone as well as all 4 of our coaches so ask us for more info if you have questions
Think about Worlds over the summer. We will have a meeting in the fall to discuss how it will work and go over costs, team selection, practice schedules and fundraising
