Athlete and Coach Bios
Athlete: Meghan Henrickson
Meghan began her synchro career back in the day when dinosaurs roamed the earth (well, back when dolphin was still a figure and they used the A,B and C system). After swimming with the Vancouver Aquasonics for four years as a C, B and A swimmer, Meghan made the leap to the ‘burbs and swam with Surrey for another two years. After taking a break from swimming and coaching for a number of years, she found she wasn’t getting enough gossip and drama from her daytime soap operas. So, she jumped right back into synchro. She’s now a coach, Masters swimmer and club president. So far the highlight of her Masters career has been competing in the World Championships (bronze medalist, thank you very much!) and the US Masters Nationals. And as soon as they hold a meet in either Hawaii or the Caribbean, she’ll be there too!
Athlete: Terri McCulloch
Terri has been swimming with the Vancouver Masters Synchronized Swim Club for the last 3 years. She swam some synchronized swimming when she was a girl but didn’t know you could swim it as an adult. Now over 35 years later she gets to enjoy the fun of ballet legs (still hard to do well), trying to hold her breath for long periods (getting better), practice verticals and spins and support scull, as well as swimming on a team and even going in competitions. Luckily synchronized swimming is a bit like riding a bike (you get better the more you practice) and the fun and camaraderie of the other swimmers makes keeping an active and healthy lifestyle more than enjoyable. Who knew you could synchronize swim your whole life!
Athlete: Nicole Clark
Nicole has been involved with synchro since she was 12. She swam up to Tier 6 Sr. level (when the old Tier system was in place!) with the Oceanus Synchro Swim Club in Delta until she graduated from high school in 2009. Her swimming career consisted of many team routines as well as two self-choreographed solos. During the 08/09 season Oceanus became a purely recreational club and she continued to take her solo to competitions as an “Independent,” and attended Nationals in Ontario during that time. She has also coached with Oceanus, serving as head coach for the club’s last two years and has helped as a substitute coach for the Vancouver Pacific Wave Synchro Club.
Nicole joined the Vancouer Masters in the Fall of 2010, immediately learning two new routines in a few short weeks to take to the US Masters Nationals in Los Angelos, CA! She is very glad to be back in the water again while attending college and is looking forward to an amazing season with some awesome new synchro friends!

Athlete: Laura Muncaster
Laura started swimming synchro as an 8 yr old girl who had flunked out of swimming lessons several times. Since then her endeavor in swimming have much improved. She’s swam for Burnaby caprice, Vancouver pacific wave then BC Aquasonics. As a more mature swimmer she joined up with ubc synchro club in 2005/6 and has competed internationally with VMS, placing 3rd in tech at US Masters Nationals. Laura is currently training a duet with Kate Rader to compete at Aquatic Worlds in 2012.
She looks forward to many more years training upside down and traveling with fellow teammates at VMS.
Athletes on hiatus:
Emily Alexander
Emily was a recreational synchro swimmer and a Calgary Aquabelles summer camper throughout junior and senior high school. She took a few years off during her undergraduate degree but started swimming again with the Atlantis Masters synchro team in Halifax in 2003. She joined Vancouver Masters when she moved to Vancouver three years ago. Emily is happiest underwater and probably should have been a fish instead of a person.
